Week Ending Sunday 29th November

As promised here is the P&L for last week.

Had too may silly, chasing type bets this weeks which put me in to a loss for the week.

I only ever have a bet on the horses on Saturdays now, unless there is something that leaps out. Unusually it was the nags that saved me from a disaster this week.

If I want this to pay for Vegas, I am going to have to get my finger out.

Very disappointing start, but no-one to blame but myself.

Lesson Number 1: More Trading and less MUG PUNTING!

Make or Break for this week

Will probably let this one run.............

Lost money on the Football and Tennis this afternoon, this to get it back.

Odd Shape Balls

Oh well as alluded to in the last post, yesterday was a good day, even after the debacle of the Rugby. This bet was the perfect example of me getting greedy when things are going well.

I'll post a full update later on what happened, but I am off out with the kids this morning so no time.

Just had enough time this morning to get a position on the cricket:

I am going to let this one run for a bit, dangerous I know, but at the prices I can't bring myself to green up.

Hopefully should be back in time for the Football/Tennis later.

Wales v Australia

Ok, good day today. Details to follow at some point.

Decided to have a lump on Wales tonight. Might trade, might not. We'll see.

Denmania

Apologies for my awful tips, but what a race. That sets everything up beautifully for Cheltenham next March.

That's why I just can't leave the horses alone............ It's great to see him back.

Backed him in-running to get a few quid back.

Roll on Cheltenham.................

Bad day at the Office.........

Took a loss on the cricket, not pretty but these things happen. A few pints last night soon erased it from my memory ;-)

Didn't trade the Tennis yesterday as there were too many question marks over the motivation of the players for me to get a handle on.

I am fighting a bit of a losing battle to show a profit for this week now. Today will be either kill or cure I reckon. Saturday's can be really good or really bad for me, no in between.

Fancy a couple of horses today (I am no tipster so don't put the mortgage on them)

1.50 Newcastle

Solwhit Win

2.40 Newbury

Ballyfitz E/W

Dare say I'll trade some of the Tennis and Football later too.

Good Luck and I'll try to get on later if I see anything that merits a mention.

SA v England 3rd ODI

Just thought I would put a quick post up highlighting what I think is a decent bit of value.

Will probably trade the game later, but wanted to lay SA pre toss, because I think if England win the toss here SA's price will move out about 20/30 ticks, whereas if SA win the toss I think the odds move may be negligible.

I guess we'll find out at about 12-00...................

Edit at 12.06, that could have gone better, but think I will leave the lay up in the hope of a couple of early wickets. Ready to take a loss though if they get off to a flier.

Tennis saves the day

Won about £60 combined in the two matches yesterday, would have been much more if either Fed or Verdasco could have won their games, but that is the way it goes. I seem to be loading my profit on to the wrong player at the wrong time at the moment, but I guess small wins are better than any kind of loss so I have to be happy with that.

Murray is out of the competition which is unfortunate as he is normally one of the players who gives you a chance while trading I find (especially if you are opposing him)

Had a cheeky lay of India in the Cricket yesterday morning @ 1.1 just before Sri Lanka decided to start collapsing so nothing doing there and £20 down the drain.

Traded a bit of the NFL last night too, the Lions v Packers game, while I was waiting for the Tennis to start. This was a boredom bet as I hadn't seen the Lions all season so didn't really have anything to go on. Anyway I got what I deserved a £45 loss and boy the Lions are awful.

I'm behind for the week at the moment, so hopefully can put that right today. We'll see.

Wow!

What a game of Tennis last night at the O2. Seems strange looking back at it now as Nadal lost in straight sets, but boy does that not tell the story.

All started with a monumental (Even by Betfair standards) drift on Davydenko pre match. Now I would not say I am a Tennis expert by any stretch, tended to just trade/watch Slams until recently, but I don't think anyone who knows anything about Sport is immune to the constant allegations that seem to surround Davy whenever he plays.

Anyway on to the first set and Davy absolutely wipes the floor with Nadal, it was like Man against Boy to be honest. Davy was inspired.

Second Set and things start warming up nicely. Nadal barely hanging on to his serve in the early part, before eventually succombing to the Davy break, it looks like it is over.

One thing about Nadal however is he never knows when he is beaten (Unlike some of the other participants this week). I couldn't believe some of the comments on the Betfair Forum about him to be honest being 'Finished' etc. This is clearly not his best surface but he gives 110%.

Davy flits between looking like he needs an ambulance and man inspired. Great entertainment.

Anyway, Davy eventually wins the 2nd set on the tie break after having served for the match at 6-5 and I manage to lose about £75 in the process. Quite how I am still not sure.

Awesome match though.

On to the football and even though I hate Man United with a passion even I had to back them when they went 1-0 down at home to Besiktas last night. Despite having a poor team on the field, still really fancied them to get back in to it. Cue game ending 1-0 to Besiktas.

Think I am down about £40 on the week at the moment, but as promised I'll update with a full P&L on Sunday.

Fed Express

Fancied Federer as I said yesterday morning in this. Murray started well taking the first set, but from then on it was one way traffic. Bit disappointed in Murray to be honest, was expecting him to show a bit more fight in the 3rd set which is why I had built a bit more green on him, but a win is a win so I am hapy with that.

Liverpool are out of the Champion's League, not the greatest surprise in the world I suppose. The consequences of them not finishing Top 4 in the Premiership are not worth thinking about at this point.

Still not involved in the Cricket at the moment, may look to get involved later.

Looking forward to Nadal v Davydenko later, has the potential to be a classic trading match.

Busy Day

Lots going on today.

As some of you may know I like trading the Cricket, not sure I want to get involved in either of the games at the moment though. NZ v Pakistan has no real liquidity on Betfair and after last week's road of a pitch between India v Sri Lanka, not sure I'll get involved here until I see what the pitch is doing on Day Three at least.

On to the Tennis, you would have to fancy Del Potro to get the better of Verdasco, but I won't be able to trade this game so I'll leave it alone. Murray v Federer is a whole different ball game. I know Federer hasn't been at his best lately, but even allowing for the fact Murray is supposedly playing in front of his 'home' support, Federer's price looks too big. I'll probably get involved with this one later.

Football wise, it is a huge night for Liverpool, who need to beat Dedrecen and hope Fiorentina fail to beat Lyon to have any chance of progressing to the next stage of the Champion's League. My head is telling me that Liverpool are struggling to beat anyone at the moment and they must be a great lay tonight, but my heart won't let me do it.

The Beginning..............

Ok after many failed attempts in the past, here we go again.

I have posted on many sites in the past some good some bad, on here though I want to keep a personal record of all my Punting/Trading activity to see if I can really make this game pay or not. I'm basically a break even Punter, have some good wins and some bad losses like the majority of other poeple if they are honest.

I am going to keep on posting in other places too, but if I am going to get bored posting to myself I may as well do it on here I reckon.

My Punting week will run Monday to Sunday and every Sunday I will post a P&L of the week's activity.

This is not a 'look how great I am' record as there will be losses as well as wins, but it will be nice to share my experiences with others and hopefully share some ideas and advice as we go along.

The overall aim of this blog is to make enough over the next six months or so, to get to Vegas for my 40th in June next year. Mates are already lined up for this, but thought it would be fun to see if I can pay for it with Profits as opposed to savings. I reckon I am going to need in the region of £5k to enjoy it properly.

I look forward to reading any comments along the way and let's see where this journey takes us.......
