Darts Review

Well had a decent chance to trade the Darts last night. Luckily for me I didn't get involved in the Football as Arsenal didn't appear to struggle as I predicted.................

On to the Lloyd v Baxter game, never got a chance to trade to be honest, Lloyd was useless in reality and went out without a fight. Shame but these things happen.

Wade v Hamilton was a much better game all round and after many swings backwards and forwards I finished up with the following position which obviously helped............

Fair play to Wade he looks to me like a genuine contender this year, especially as he avoids Taylor until the Final. Thought Hamilton played out of his skin too.

On to Barney v Painter. Started this off with a Lay of Barney as I haven't been impressed with him at all (9 Darter aside). He then proceeds to reel off a 3-0 Set lead with Painter playing like he fancies having a decent New Years Eve this year with his Gorgeous Girlfriend (How old is she? 18?) instead of worrying about a Quarter Final. Who can blame him?

Then something strange happens, Barney seems to hit a brick wall and to be honest I was unsure whether he would even finish the game after Painter came back to 3-1. I was actually quite worried for his health at one point, but it didn't stop me laying him fairly heavy at short odds.

Needless to say in the 5th Set, Painter just reinforced my view above about him wanting to be out of the tournament, as I could have probably put up more of a fight.

Seriously hope Barney recovers for the Quarter's. He looks drained to me.

On to the outright and I have had a little dabble on Stompe @ 70's which I think is just too big. Quarter Final against Webster, then Semi against either the Power or Lewis.

If he beats Webster which I think he will surely he be in to 30's maximum and if by some chance Lewis nails The Power in the meantime what price then? 10's? Got to be a good trade in there somewhere I think.

I am thinking about having a few quid on Wade in the outright too, but to be honest the Wizard scares me - He looked great again yesterday. I'll update if I do.

Anyway Happy New Year to all of you and as is usual I'll update full P&L at the end of the week.

Come on Lloyd

Will trade this one, but a fast start for Lloyd would be nice.

Struggling............

I've dropped a few quid on the Darts and Football up to this point, but made a few quid on the Horses. About £80 down at the moment overall.

Really looking forward to the Darts tonight, think there is money to be made (or lost) on all three games.

Well Done England in the Cricket. Was tempted to lay the draw at about 1.5ish but decided not to in the end. My loss.

The Football loss was down to Newcastle. Backed them at half time against Derby. They may be a team to oppose in the coming weeks I think.

Wife going out tonight so should be a decent chance to play when the kids are in bed. Bring it on.

Initial thoughts are Arsenal may struggle and Ronnie Baxter is too short. Hopefully be back later with some more.

Good Luck.

Welsh National

Don't normally post up a Horse as they always go down when I do.

Had £20 on Halcon Genarladais though. Win only which may be a mistake, but feel it has the form in the book to run really well here.

Week Ending Sunday 27th December 2009

Hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas. I know I did. It is one of those special times seeing the kid's faces on Christmas morning. You can't buy memories like that.

Anyway on to the trading, been quite a quiet week to be honest. Main bet on the NFL went down the tubes again. It is fast becoming one of my worst sports to trade (Which is some achievement!)

Nicked a few quid on the darts last night, mainly on the Tabern v Dudbridge match. The other two games were too one sided to really get involved in for me.

Not involved in the SA v England 2nd Test at this point, may do later.

Also had a look at the Wasps v Harlequins Rugby yesterday and dropped a few quid on that.

There is a £40 loss to add to these figures on the Cricket, as I used another Account for that.

Had a look at the Football today and nothing really jumps out to be honest.

Out all afternoon at more relatives, so won't have the chance to get involved to any great degree, although I'll have my iPhone at the ready ;-)

Merry Christmas

Not really done much for the last couple of days to be honest.

Lost a few quid on the India v Sri Lanka ODI on Monday but won about £150 on the horses so back in profit overall which is nice.

Can't get inspired with the Darts on at the moment so leaving it alone. I will do after Christmas though when the real competitive stuff starts.

Going to leave the ODI tomorrow alone so that is me done until Boxing Day when there should be plenty of opportunities around, although the chance to trade them will be limited.

Special mention here to the authors of the Blogs you see on the left of the screen. Each one well worth checking out as they are very entertaining and informative.

Merry Christmas to all of you and I'll be back in a few days.

Week Ending Sunday 20th December 2009

Well where do I start?

What was looking like a decent week, ruined by a chase bet of the highest order which went wrong in the worst way possible (Sound Familiar?)

Cricket went well. Traded the game fairly well for me and didn't leave myself exposed at the crucial point. What a game it was in the end. Fair play to Collingwood and Onions, the only two towards the end who didn't look like rabbits caught in headlights.

As most of you may know Betfair went down for a while yesterday during the game, luckily for me I didn't have an exposed position at the time. God only knows what would have happened if SA had of gone on to win the game with Betfair still down. There would have been Carnage.

The Football was a disaster throughout the week. The only decent call I made was a Lay of Chelsea and even then I ruined my position expecting them to come back after going a goal down. By the end of the game all of my green was on Chelsea.

The horses were steady. Nothing spectacular.

On to the NFL and where the real damage was done. I really fancied the Titans to get the better of the Dolphins in the early game on Sky. So much so that I had a large bet for me on the Titans -4.5, fully intending to green up when the opportunity arose. Well there were lots of opportunities to green up but I took none of them, then Miami proceeded to come back from what looked like a hopeless position. Fair play to them.

Then it was me who was acting like a rabbit in the headlights, unwilling to accept a smaller Green position because I thought the prices were wrong and the liquidity was poor.

This is one of the key reasons I started writing this blog, to stop me having these moments. It hasn't worked yet ;-)

Anyway on to the numbers themselves and they don't make pretty reading...............

We are back in to loss overall, painful but deserved.

Hope you all had a better Sunday than me and let's see what we can do about it over Christmas. Posting may be sporadic for the next couple of weeks due to the Festivities but rest assured I'll be beavering away in the background when the opportunities arise ;-)

Good Luck

Wow

What a finish in the Cricket. Gripping to say the least. Glad I greened when I did, not sure my heart could have taken it otherwise.

Backed Everton and Laid Chelsea in the Football. Let's see what happens............

Full update to follow later.

Temptation too much

I've just had to lay the draw in the cricket for a couple of hundred. Come on England, I think they can do this.

Either way I think this draw price could explode at some point.

Got a couple of quid on Pablo Martin in the Golf too, but that is not looking likely at the moment.

Edit 13.35 It's all about KP in the cricket I reckon, and I've laid Shiv Kapur in the Golf.

Edit 15.37 To trade or not to trade the cricket that is the question? Although it is nice to have the choice Betfair you Winkers. More to follow later.

Edit 15.45 Traded. All Green.

Saturday Update

Right I have alluded to it before, but never again am I getting involved in a Liverpool match, regardless of how attractive the odds may look. They are just clueless at the moment all over the pitch. I reckon Rafa has lost/is losing the dressing room. Gerrard looks a shadow of himself and Torres is just running round like a headless chicken, up blind alleys all the time, because he has got no-one to give the ball to. Don't even get me started on Carragher, Kuyt and Dossena. SEETHING is an understatement. £20 Million for Aquillani?????? Is he ever going to play?

As you may guess I am a Liverpool Fan and the only thing keeping me even a little bit Sane is seeing Man United struggling too.

Anyway had a few quid on Blackburn and also Villa yesterday, so another poor day overall on the Football.

Had a decent return on the Horses though (Had the last three winners at Wolverhampton) so it's not all bad.

I am desperately trying to avoid playing with my position on the Cricket at the moment. If you push me I would say it will be a draw, but it's too close to call really.

Let's see if we can avoid doing any damage today......................

Portsmouth v Liverpool

Ok, down to ten men, looking awful, can things get any worse?

I hope not, because I can't have the price on Portsmouth at all.

I have laid them for a few quid at half time, COME ON Liverpool, let's see some of this fighting spirit that has been so sadly lacking lately.

South Africa v England - 1st Test - Centurion (Day 4)

OK I am going to wait for some clearer direction with this game at the moment.

All three results are still more than possible so I have greened up the position for now.

May trade using some of this profit later but we'll see what happens.

As an aside traded the India v Sri Lanka ODI yesterday and made a total profit of about £0.30. What a waste of time....................

South Africa v England - 1st Test - Centurion (Day 3)

Ok, got a feeling today is going to be a good day of Batting. Maybe the best so far.

Hence I am leaving the positions I have open, as they are.

Will definitely be trading at some point today though.

Edit 13.05 Things not going to plan today. Very loose shots coupled with a wicket not playing as well as I had thought/hoped means South Africa are right back in this. I am hoping England acquit themselves better second time round and some weather issues arise as I have backed the draw again for £30 @ 2.22. Also I can see SA taking too long to set a target in their 2nd dig. Apologies for the ramble, but I've got to go out now, I'll update screenshot later on. Good Luck All.

Edit 18.05 Well that could have been worse will update in full in the morning, but reckon I am going to Green up at this point as there are now too many variables in this game. If anyone disagrees let me know.

Thursday, 17 December 2009

South Africa v England - 1st Test - Centurion (Day 2)

Tea on Day 2.

Still got the draw back going and to be honest can't really find any reason to tinker with it at this stage. Just wish I had put a bit more on.

This match is progressing so slowly, I may not even need the weather to interfere to collect on the Draw.

I am going to wait to see how the pitch is playing when England start batting and if there aren't any early scares I may back England at the prices as this is the only other possible result I can foresee. Certainly may be a trading opportunity.

Barring England collapsing twice while Batting (Certainly not beyond the realms of possibility, but a 2/1 chance? Not for me) I can't see how South Africa win this Test.

What do you all think?

Edit 14.45 Had £20 on England. Hoping for no more wickets this afternoon and a decent scoring rate then will probably trade later.

Wednesday, 16 December 2009

Liverpool v Wigan

Really tempted to lump on Liverpool tonight. Think they are a big price to beat a poor Wigan side. Can't bring myself to pull the trigger however remembering Liverpool's dire performances of late. Think I am going to sit on my hands which should hopefully mean a 3 or 4 goal mauling coming up.

Good Luck to anyone playing this one.

South Africa v England - 1st Test - Centurion

Morning All, hope you are well.

Decided to get involved with this game fairly early for me.

Weather is notoriously difficult to predict here, so although the forecast looks fairly clear here at the moment that can change quickly.

Looking at the two teams, they are both strong on the Batting front, but much weaker in the Bowling department, which suggests to me wickets are going to be hard to come by. Steyn is a huge loss for SA.

At time of writing South Africa are 2 down, which is why we have the chance to back the draw at 3.0+

Will probably trade the game to larger stakes at some point but wanted to get some of the Draw value while it is there.

Good Luck.

16/12/09 End of Play. Will let this run for a bit I think. Draw is now around 2.12 and looking how the pitch played this afternoon think we have some more mileage in this yet.

Week Ending Sunday 13th December 2009

An up and down week in every sense of the word to be honest.

Football was a nightmare and really cost me during the week, Liverpool are proving very expensive to follow at the moment in particular. The Horses were looking grim until things picked up nicely on Saturday. Other sports were fairly flat apart from the Cricket where it was nice to get back to trading again.

Overall a small loss on the week, but still in profit overall so can't complain.

Things may be quieter up until Christmas now for me due to lack of opportunities, but I'll still post if I see or punt anything in the interim.

Cricket and Golf

Ok on the first couple of bets, will trade as always if the situation arises

Work to do

Managed to recover some of the Horse Racing Losses yesterday, but still well behind for the week at the moment...........

Tempted by a few bets today;

Higgins to beat O'Sullivan in the Snooker, may well trade this one in play however.

Ernie Els to win the Golf, again may trade this a bit later on.

India to win the 2nd T20 v Sri Lanka. Be nice to trade some day time cricket, I don't really like getting involved in the overnight stuff.

Stoke to beat Wigan and laying Man United against Villa (Can I finally call a Man United game right?)

Also got some horses picked out for today, not going to post them though, as my record on them is rubbish.

Got a feeling today is going to be a BIG day one way or another...............

Thursday, 10 December 2009

Tidal Bay

Had a quick look at the Horses today - Fatal.

Really fancied Tidal Bay to do the business so had a few quid on.

The rest is history. This is why I don't do the Horses in the week.

Needless to say after a few more bets to get the loss back I didn't.

Now looking at a hefty loss this week to this point.

Bloody Cheltenham tomorrow, if any one has any winners for me they would be appreciated ;-)

Problem is, it is quiet at work at the moment coming up to Christmas and I am getting bored............

Still, not to worry, off to Snooker tonight, few Beers always help things look better ;-)

Football Update

Did a bit of trading on the game last night.

As per the previous night however still managed to lose on a game where I had the opportunity to green up.

I seem to be losing my discipline at the moment chasing the big win, which is not good.

So much for Liverpool laying down a marker, I thought they were dreadful.

Going to take a good end to the week to get me back in profit. The last two Saturdays have been good to me. Don't want to be relying on needing a third in a row to do the business. We all know what happens then.....

Reading through a few other Blogs and it appears the Horses are dicey at the moment too. Hopefully things will pick up for all of us over the next couple of days.

Wednesday, 9 December 2009

Liverpool v Fiorentina

Ok, dodgy this as Fiorentina have more to play for than Liverpool here.

Just got a gut feeling Liverpool will be laying a marker down with the side that are playing.

Could be wrong, very wrong, but have put my money where my mouth is.................

Tuesday, 8 December 2009

Came to my senses...............

A lesson learned though, got lucky this time. Always green up when you have the chance................

Unless there is an equaliser I've still managed to lose on a game I should have won on..........

Edit at the end of the game - If anyone can call a Man United game worse than me I would be delighted to hear from you. Don't know why but I can't stand the club in any shape or form. Fair play to Owen though, good to see him back.

Always get these wrong.................

Should green up here, but can't see Man United winning - Am I being an idiot?

What would you do?

No Bet Monday

Nothing really took my eye yesterday. Only reason to get involved at the moment is wanting a bet and that is fatal as far as I am concerned.

Watford were a possible bet but decided against it.

Really fancy a punt on Wolfsburg tonight, but as you may have noticed Man United are my bogey team when it comes to punting, when I back them they lose and when I lay them they win. With no defence to speak of they must be vulnerable tonight however?

I'll update if I do get involved in anything today..............

Week Ending Sunday 6th December 2009

Fairly quiet week last week to be honest.

Everton game was a dream to trade and even though I started on the wrong side of things managed to show a small profit by the end of the match. All a bit academic but if Everton had managed to score a winner I would have been looking at my biggest ever win on a Football Match. No chance to trade on Fulham as Sunderland never equalised so small loss on that one.

NY Giants got me out of a bit of a hole that I dug myself on the Texans v Jaguars game earlier.

Managed to show a profit which is what it is all about at the end of the day.

I've decided to keep a running total in a different section of the Blog. I'll update this later.

Sunday, 6 December 2009

Football Bets

Couple of bets going at the moment................

Laid Fulham at half time v Sunderland and backed Everton to beat Spurs in the live game.

May trade both if the right opportunities arise..............

Back from the nightmare that is Decorating

Apologies for the break in the posting but to be honest didn't have a bet apart from the one posted before yesterday, so didn't have much to say.

Got back in to it yesterday afternoon though and managed to win back my losses on the Football from earlier in the week (Thanks Man City) and also win a few quid on the Horses and Greyhounds.

I'm probably about £200 up this week now, P&L to be posted for this week later. So back on track.

Out all morning today but should be back later to see what is going on.

I'll check team news first but my first thoughts are to get with Everton later.

Good Luck all.

Wednesday, 2 December 2009

Poker

OK after last night's nightmare, I have decided to leave the Sports Betting alone today.

Instead I have qualified (via satellite) for the $12k Guaranteed on Betfair at 20.15 tonight.

I play under the name of DaVinci I if anyone else is in it? To be honest I am not great at Poker but enjoy a game very now and again, so it may be short lived.

You'll all be pleased to know the wallpaper is off now, so as soon as the arguments with the Wife stop regarding colour scheme I can crack on.

BTW If I was playing the Football tonight I'd be on Man City to beat Arsenal Kids.

Good Luck to anyone having a Punt today.

Bad start to the week............

Decided to lay Man United pre match, to be honest wanted to back Spurs but thought this was the safest option.

Cue a good start for Spurs, then out of the blue 1-0 Man United.

Ok, we are in a mess, what do we do now?

Most sane people who like to preserve their bank would probably red out and take the loss like a man.

Not this idiot (Who by the way is aching like nothing else after 2 days of stripping wallpaper that appears to have been put up with super glue), I decide to lay them again !#*! so we are now looking at a nice profit on anything but a Man United win, thought there was bound to be an equaliser at some point.

Cue 2-0 Man Untied and game over. How Spurs put 9 past Wigan I'll never know.

Got the feeling this is going to be a long, hard week.

Tuesday, 1 December 2009

Quiet Day

Had a look at both Blackpool to beat Preston and also The Patriots to beat the Saints yesterday, but in the end I decided to leave them both alone. Lucky for me I did ;-)

Will probably get involved in the Football later.

Got the week off this week to do some decorating so need to get on with that now. A word of advice don't try to get rid of Cork Wallpaper it is a nightmare...................
